My Story
Hi, I’m Rae!
I’ve been married to my high school sweetheart for 10 years and together we have three daughters. In my free time I enjoy riding horses (dressage and jumping), running, reading and hiking with my family.
Like many other doula's, I began pursuing birth work after my own birth experiences. From an induction turned cesarean birth without a doula, and then a hospital VBAC, and then a homebirth with doulas, I've personally experienced a few different birth scenarios. Once I saw first hand how having a doula can positively impact one's birth experience, I knew that I wanted to help other's have enjoyable births as well.
My goal is to help birthing people have confidence in their bodies natural abilities and to become more knowledgeable in the options that they have in their birth environment. I also love to help birth partners become even more involved, if that's what they desire.
I'm a certified birth doula with Childbirth International, a certified Hypno-doula and Hypnobabies Childbirth Educator with Hypnobabies®, and a CPST (Child Passenger Safety Technician).
My Philosophy
As a doula, I’m here to help you have the birth that you desire, regardless of whether it’s in a hospital, a birth center, or your own home. I believe that every birthing person is extremely capable of birthing their own baby. Especially when practicing Hypnobabies®, I believe that birth can be a calm, peaceful, joyous experience. With that being said, I support everyone, regardless of what childbirth class they take and regardless of if they plan to have a medicated birth or not.

Frequently Asked Questions
When should a doula arrive?
A doula will arrive whenever the birthing person needs additional emotional or physical support during their birthing time. With that being said, the most common time for a doula to arrive and be the most beneficial is between 5-7cms or when contractions are 4-5 minutes apart.
Why choose to have doula support?
Doula support decreases the need for interventions such as Pitocin, c-sections, and epidurals. Doulas are there to support the birthing person's physical and emotional wellbeing, in addition to helping the birth partner be as involved as they would like to be.
How can a doula help you?
A doula can help you prepare for childbirth. Our role is to educate you with all of your options. Doulas provide massage, hip squeezes, suggestions for position changes, etc.
Can a doula deliver a baby?
A doula can deliver a baby only in medical emergencies. A doula is not a substitute for a doctor or midwife
Doula vs. Nurse or Midwife
Nurses and Midwives are responsible for the medical aspect of the birth. They are responsible to for ensuing the health and safety for the mother and the baby. A doula is there to provide emotional and physical support for the birthing person and birth partners.
Doula and Breastfeeding
Doulas can provide breastfeeding education prior to birth and can help to initiate breast feeding soon after birth. We also provide references for various feeding support groups and lactation consultants.
